Collection Policy

Bills are mailed out on the last day of the month, and are due by the 12th of the following month. If payment is not received:

• By the 12th of the month, a late fee of 1.5% of the balance due or $1, whichever is greater, will be added to the bill and a late notice will be included on the next month’s bill if unpaid.
• By the 13th of the following month, a notice of disconnection is sent out.
• By the 18th, disconnection procedures are started.

During the cold weather months (October 15th - April 15th), Disconnection must not occur until at least 20 days after written notice has been mailed or 15 days after the notice has been personally delivered to the consumer.

A depository, located at the front door of the Mahnomen office, is available for bill paying after hours.
